Wow, what a great way to start off the new year. Today I had the Smith brothers in from atlanta, we hit the water an hour before low tide and made our ways out to the flats. The water was a little dingy and the temp was 56 degree's, we had a few fish pushing down the flat so I dropped in the trolling motor and got us into position. After a few cast we had our first redfish on, it hit a baby bass color exude.  We caught several fish on the small end of the slot and pulled off the fish to let them settle down. The next flat was holding a nice wad of bigger fish, the guys pulled 5 nice over slot fish out of this school. The fish were a little spooky, it took an almost perfect cast and then slowly working the bait in front of the fish to get them to eat. We pulled off these fish and went to check out another flat but didnt see any fish working so we went back to where we started. The water had just started moving in by this time and the school of fish had increased in size. We switched baits and started using tube baits, we pulled out several more with one double hookup.  Fishing during the winter in charleston is great, warm weather and clear water makes for great days.  Congrats to Allen and Mark, you guys caught some really nice fish.
